December 2023 (London) – Greensphere Capital and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew announce their first spinout – Kew REACH

Greensphere Capital and RBG Kew are pleased to announce their first spinout, Kew REACH, a market leading science-driven, landscape-scale nature adviser.

Kew REACH offers a holistic approach to nature restoration, enhancement, adaptation and creation. Based on RBG Kew’s deep experience in researching, managing, and enhancing landscapes, it is powered by Kew’s cutting-edge science, and knowhow (the ‘Kew Method’).

Kew REACH works with major corporates, landowners and commercial agricultural and forestry owners and operators to create positive environmental impact. We advise stakeholders and clients on how to either improve or create outstanding natural habitats in commercial agriculture, forestry, real estate, and natural landscapes with science-led, high-credibility solutions. Powered by Kew Science, it provides scientific knowhow, transparency, data, and accountability, ensuring scientific rigour and data is at the heart of any project it advises.

Rapidly growing markets for investment in nature have driven an equally rapid advisory sector with a proliferation of offers of carbon and biodiversity measurement, valuation and offsetting schemes. However, not all are underpinned by the level of rigorous science and data that Kew REACH can deliver or have the capacity to deliver landscape-scale projects.

Kew REACH offers full-service, end-to-end advisory from baselining and planning of habitats, implementation, and measurement to monitoring and calibration. It also provides support on supply-chain development for projects (e.g. advice on seed collection and seed banking for projects) to capability building (e.g. training and ongoing mentorship of project staff from local communities).

Kew REACH is Gaia Sciences Innovation’s first investment. Gaia Sciences Innovation is a partnership built by Greensphere Capital with 12 of the world’s leading bioscience and environmental science institutes. In this instance, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Greensphere Capital are working together to commercialise and scale the impact of world-leading research in biodiversity, botanical and fungal science that can help solve the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss.

Based in London and York, Kew REACH is founded on Kew’s deep know-how and experience in habitat restoration, enhancement, adaptation, and creation of habitats. Here are some examples of work that Kew has done in the past.
